Combustion
The chemical reaction for combustion is:
CH4 + O2 -> CO2 + H2O
Methane + Oxygen -> Carbon Dioxide + Water
But that's not balanced yet. Balanced would look like this:
CH4 + 2O2 -> CO2 + 2H2O
The fire triangle shows you need fuel (methane) and oxygen as your reactants. You also need some energy to start the reaction. This is heat. All chemical reactions need some sort of energy to react.

Rust
The chemical reaction for rust is:
Fe + O2 -> Fe2O3
Iron + Oxygen -> Iron Oxide (rust)
But that's not balanced yet. Balanced would look like this:
4Fe + 3O2 -> 2Fe2O3
Rust happens when oxygen combines with Iron. Many people think that rust is combining with water because it seems that rust happens only when things get wet. Water only serves as a passageway for the oxygen molecules to react with the iron easier.

Photosynthesis
The chemical reaction for photosynthesis is:
CO2 + H2O -> C6H12O6 + O2
Carbon Dioxide + Water -> Glucose (sugar) + Oxygen
But that's not balanced yet. Balanced would look like this:
6CO2 + 6H2O -> C6H12O6 + 6O2
Photosynthesis requires light to begin it's reaction.

Respiration
The chemical reaction for respiration is:
C6H12O6 + O2 -> CO2 + H2O
Glucose (sugar) + Oxygen -> Carbon Dioxide + Water
But that's not balanced yet. Balanced would look like this:
C6H12O6 + 6O2 -> 6CO2 + 6H2O
Respiration happens in the cells. Your body and other living organisms take the glucose in them and oxygen that you take in and convert those into carbon dioxide and water (vapor) that we breathe out.
